The book’s commendably cosmopolitan coverage of women from around the world comes to colour our understanding of what it means to speak as a ‘feminist’ in the 21 st century. It is through an exploration of fifty accomplished women across borders and history that we are reminded of the near universal subjugation that women have experienced throughout time.
